Painting the Bigger Picture Madison WI Community Special

On January 14, 2025, my father, Peter Cherek, passed away from heart failure.

For more than 20 years, he carried Cherek Painting forward after taking it over from my grandfather, Leonard. What started as a family trade became a three-generation standard built on long days, steady hands, and pride in doing the job right.

Today, I’m continuing that work here in Madison, Wisconsin.

And as I step into this next chapter, I’ve been thinking about what legacy truly means.

To me, it’s not just about maintaining a business.
It’s about showing up for the community that supported our family for decades.

It’s about doing meaningful work.
And it’s about giving back when you can.

Introducing: Painting the Bigger Picture

In honor of my father and in support of heart health research, Cherek Painting is launching a limited-time initiative called “Painting the Bigger Picture.”

Through this initiative, we are offering to paint one bedroom or bathroom free of charge for Madison-area homeowners who:

• Donate $50 or more to the American Heart Association
• Supply their own paint (1 gallon for bathrooms, 2 gallons for bedrooms)
• Provide proof of donation before or at the time of service

This is not a sales event.

It’s a way to:

• Honor my father’s memory
• Support the American Heart Association
• Help homeowners who may have been postponing refreshing a room

What’s Included

This service includes:

• Walls only (one bedroom or one bathroom)
• Standard 8–9 ft ceilings
• Maximum approximately 120 sq ft
• Professional cutting and rolling
• Two-coat application if required for proper coverage

What’s Not Included

To keep this initiative sustainable and manageable, the following are not included:

• Drywall repair of any kind
• Patching or surface repair
• Ceiling painting
• Trim, doors, or baseboards
• Wallpaper removal
• Cabinet painting
• Exterior painting

Walls must be in paint-ready condition at the time of service.
